About Us

Dear Friends and Community Members,
My name is Dr. Selvakumar Vellingiri. While I am originally from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, I have called Gujarat my home since 2016. I am a Social Scientist by profession, and my PhD in Social Work has always guided me to look at how we can better support and connect our people.
For the past few years, I have been running the “Tamil – Gujarat Sangam” Facebook page. It started as a simple way to build a bridge, but it taught me something important: our community in Gujarat is incredibly strong, but we are also very scattered.
Whether in government, business, or science, Tamils are contributing so much to Gujarat’s growth. Yet, we don’t have one single place where all our associations and stories live together. I realized that if someone wants to reach our community today, they have to search through many different places. There is no single, organized database available—until now.
I decided to create Gujarat Tamil Connect to be more than just a website; I want it to be a digital home for us. My goal is to:
Unite our Sangams: Build a structured database so every association is easy to find.
Save our History: Document our migration stories and cultural journeys so they aren’t lost.
Support Growth: Create a space where our entrepreneurs and professionals from both Gujarat and Tamil Nadu can finally collaborate and grow together.
We have been welcomed so warmly by the people of Gujarat. This platform is my way of giving back—by bringing our scattered efforts together into one proud, coordinated community.
